Who are your roommate?

Being in a foreing country can be pleaseant or terrible. Depends on the several things. One of those things are your roommates. Who they are? Where they from? How its their behavior?

Well, I`ll tell about my roommates.
In the first place, I`m luck because I have good roommates.

I begin speaking about Luiz:

Luiz:
Luiz is brazilian, like me. He is very calm, quiet. He are leaving next saturday, so he decided enjoy as much as possible his last week with his friends. So, we can`t see him at home so often this week. He works programming computers. He loves video game. We played a few times together. I usually win... But he is getting better.

Evan:
Evan is taiwaneese. Very kind person. He is an eletric engineer. In fact, with only 25 years old, he already ger his master degree. So... probally he is a genius but also very modest.

Barak:
Barak is from Turkey, he is new. We don`t know much about him. He is a tall and fat guy. Seems like he is 25 years old... but he is only 19 years old. He has many friends and at least one relative in Vancouver and spend almost all day outside.

Borrh:
Borrh is from Kazakhstan. He is 23 years old. We make the same birthday (yesterday)! He is very funny! He Drinks a lot even being a muslim! His culture is very different of mine. He can`t talk with married women alone. He told me he feel unconfortable talking with our homestay mother, he only say `hi` or `hello`. Nothing more. In his county many weddings are agreed between the two families. He told me love is not so important. However, if a Kazakh are rich, he can get usually until 4 wives, and its not uncomom even more! WOW! Another thing... It`s not so often, but he also can BUY a wife and it`s expensive like 50,000 dollars. If something bad happen with that wife, he can get REFOUND! So different! I spended hours talking with him... its really interesting!

  1. What about my roommate? I will have to say that I had the best experience ever with my roommate. She was from Brazil and I don’t have words to thank her for all the things she made for me.

Being a new student it’s definitely not easy and of course being new in a city you don’t know, either…but if you find someone that can support you, teach you and talk to you about what they have experienced here in Vancouver, as my roommate did, you can feel much better.

Thanks to her, my arrival to Vancouver was less stressful that I thought, she was so kind that we become good friends very fast. And I should say that spending so much time with someone makes you love them like a brother or a sister, so now, I have a Brazilian sister, which I miss a lot!

For sure, I will try to offer that kindness and that hospitality I felt with her to my future roommates, because now I know that that will make them feel better and get used to many things that are not common for us when we just arrive. And of course, because having your roommate as a friend is one of the most wonderful experiences you are going to live here, they will become friend for life!
